IDC Report: Generative AI Has Entered a Period of Exploration and Explosion in the Industry; the Technology Supply Side is in the Early Stages of Commercialization.
IT Home News, September 22 — According to the official WeChat account of IDC Consultancy, since the second half of 2023, an increasing number of manufacturers have begun to update and upgrade products related to generative AI, and accelerate the market launch of these products.
To gain a deeper understanding of the needs, pain points, and market conditions of generative AI users in China, IDC conducted a survey, aiming to “provide a strong reference for the future development of the industry”.
IT Home summarizes the IDC report as follows:
On the industry user side, generative AI is entering a period of exploration and explosion. Industry users should avoid following blindly and strengthen management. Although there are current obstacles such as brand and regulatory risks, data and intellectual property protection, budget, and cost, the timeline for the initial exploration of generative AI applications is still unclear. However, the whole market indicates acceptance and recognition for the continuous introduction of generative AI technology.
Industry users should avoid potential risks. Enterprises can prioritize establishing evaluation and guidance methods for generative AI technology, enhance collaborative practices of application cases and data sharing, and introduce third parties to jointly supervise the potential ethical and legal risks brought by generative AI applications during the application development process.
IDC Report: Generative AI has entered a period of industry exploration and explosion, and the technology supply side is in the early stage of commercialization.
On the technology supplier side, generative AI is in the early stages of commercialization. Technology suppliers of different roles should avoid technological anxiety and pay attention to product upgrades.
AI infrastructure providers should offer extensive development support and a complete AI stack (including libraries, SDKs, orchestration, AI tools), and also support data storage integration across hybrid/multi-cloud architectures.
AI software suppliers should provide AI products with data security and support for multi-modal content (such as text, audio, video, etc.). In addition, they should consider providing industry-customized models and solutions, and data management functions.
